    VERY SCARCE SERIES of 1899 BLACK EAGLE SILVER CERTIFICATE ~ FR. 226 "DATE ABOVE SERIAL NUMBER" RARE TYPE AND NICE VERY FINE NOTE

    Treasury signatures of Lyons-Roberts. Fr. 226 DATE ABOVE RIGHT SERIAL NUMBER.
    The Fr. 226 is the first type of Black Eagle note issued. It had the date "SERIES OF 1899" above the right-hand serial number. Shortly thereafter, the date was moved to below the right-hand serial number, with Fr.226a and all others like that until the date was again moved, this time vertically at right margin, starting with Fr. 229a.
    The Fr. 226 with DATE ABOVE is very hard to find in any decent grade. THIS IS A NICE VERY FINE.
    NO TEARS or PINHOLES. A solid VERY FINE note. See photos.
