This is a great postcard for a history minded collector. It's a Linen which are always colorful scenes. It has a great assortment of buildings, advertising and automobiles from early 1940. It has a war years cancel and the 1 cent stamp is intact. It has a Sears and Roebuck sign from the day when Sears ruled the merchandising world. But what is best about the card is the simple message from a young man to his grandmother. He had just received his first pay in the grand amount of .90. And he had a whopping 2 cent deduction for Social Security which had been enacted in 1935. This is a great World War 2 home front card. If you happen to be a fan of Akron, Ohio it is even better.
The card is used. Use your judgment looking at photos for condition. The photos show the front and back and some sections of the exact card you are bidding on. Does not have a smoke or mildew smell. You van see some damage at corner and some discoloration on the white frame. But none of this detracts from the value of the card that so captures a time and place in our country's past.
